Large Statues item three

This carving depicts a king or rajah from Central West Timor. The belt signifies he is a raja, the Eagle on his head means it is from the Oinlasi region and he stands on a depiction of his "entity" or kingdom.

A pair of Raja and Ratu statues from Oinlasi in Central West Timor. The graphics on the Raja are diagonal squares while on the Ratu are circular depicting their individual family entity.

Large Statues item five

This very unusual carving from Central West Timor is of a woman with one large breast with three birds on her head squatting on a traditional festival drum. This possibly would have been created to be placed outside as an offering to ask for prosperity and fertility from the respective Animistic Gods.

Large Statues item six

A very old piece depicting a Nenek (grandma) carrying a container of Beetle Nut and other ingredients used mostly by the older people as a traditional mild narcotic. Users can be identified by their bright orange teeth. The circular motif of her entity on the drum is repeated throughout the statue.

This large totem or itos from Central West Timor was made to be placed outdoors and "planted" 30cm into the ground'. the image is of a very scary old woman or "nenek" with a very good set of teeth

Large Statues item one

This pair of Itos (totems) from Belu West Timor Island NTT depict a Raja (king) with a smaller figure with 4 faces implying 4 sons and a Ratu (queen) with a figure with 2 faces implying 2 daughters. The jar atop the Raja indicates prosperity and the feeding bird atop the Ratu shows plentiful crops.
